    Kismayo International Airport receives a K9 facility from UNSOS.

    Somali Magazine September 26,2023-The United Nations Security Council Office in Somalia (UNSOS) has handed over to the Jubaland State administration a K9 (a specialist group of law enforcement officers who use assistance dogs to execute the functions of a general police officer.) facility at Kismayo International Airport. The facility is intended to improve airport security by reducing potential security hazards to airline passengers and airport personnel.

    Sector 6 Commander Brig. Gen. Lukas Kutto and UNSOS Kismayo OIC-RAO and Regional Engineer Maria Bella Manangan handed over the facility to Jubaland State government officials.

    The UN in Somalia’s Head of Office, Fexton Matupa, was also present, as was Kismayo Airport Chief Security Officer Mohamed Ahmed Hayi.
