    Close to 100 Somalis who were detained in Libya arrive in Mogadishu

    Close to 100 Somalis who had been detained in Libya arrived back in the country today following interventions from the Somali government and the International Organisation of Migration (IOM). The 97 returnees, among them five women landed at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu Wednesday morning.

    Foreign Minister Abdi Said Muse Ali, IOM officials, and other senior government officials received the returnees.

    About 2,500 Somalis have arrived back home since 2018 following their repatriation from different countries.

    About 100 more Somalis are expected to arrive in the country from Libya next week according to government officials.
