An explosion at an entertainment facility in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, killed one person and injured 24 others, according to the Health Ministry.
The explosion and subsequent fire occurred around 3 a.m. local time in a nightclub on Terlan Aliyarbeyov Street in central Baku, according to the ministry.
The fire was quickly doused when fire and rescue teams were sent, according to the report.
Deputy Minister Etibar Mirzeyev arrived on the site and began investigating.
Hundreds of people were hurt and brought to hospitals.
According to preliminary findings, the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak, according to Ehsan Zahidov, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry.
According to a statement from Azerigaz, a gas company in the country, the incident occurred owing to a tube failure.
