On Sunday, the joint parliamentary committee in charge of organizing the presidential election began registering candidates for the Federal Republic of Somalia’s 10th president.
Former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed was the first to register. Today, several more candidates are likely to register.
The candidate tweeted, “I formally registered as a candidate in the upcoming presidential election, planned for May 15, 2022.”
The date for the election of Somalia’s next president has been scheduled for May 15.
