On Monday in Ankara, Turkey, Speaker of the Upper House of Somalia, Senator Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, met with Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, to discuss improving ties between the two nations.
Additionally, Hashi and Sentop talked about enhancing collaboration between the Turkish Parliament and the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
According to state-run media, Speaker Abdi Hashi would work with the Lower House speaker to get members of the parliamentary committee on the friendship of the two Houses of the Somali Parliament and the Turkish Parliament ready after his return to the country.
Vera Bergkamp, the Speaker of the Dutch House of Representatives, met with Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, the Speaker of the Lower House of Somalia, in The Hague, the Kingdom of the Netherlands. They talked about improving the ties between the two parliaments.
The two parliament speakers didn’t go into detail about why they were travelling abroad. The 60th anniversary of Uganda’s independence from Britain is being observed while President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is also in Kampala.
On Sunday, Presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda spoke about regional security, economic cooperation, and Somalia’s ongoing campaign against Al Shabaab.
As the largest African Union force in Somalia, President Museveni commended the Somali military and government for their recent victories over the insurgency group linked to Al Qaeda and pledged additional support from Uganda.
