Mogadishu – The delegation representing Somalia at the International Court of Justice has today returned to Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. Somalia was victorious when The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ruled in favor of Somalia in a maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya.

The delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled and were welcomed at Mogadishu International Airport by ministers, lawmakers, politicians and other government officials.

The delegation thanked for the warm welcome extended to them today at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, and said they were very happy with the outcome of the disputed Kenyan maritime case.

On October 12, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in favour of Somalia in a maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya. Whilst Kenya wanted the maritime bounder to follow an easterly direction from the land boundary the International Court of Justice rejected it

Instead the  ICJ has drawn up a new maritime boundary between the two countries, and according to the new line, most of Kenya’s territorial claims have been rejected and ruled in favor of Somalia.
