The 10th Summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) is taking place in Luanda, the capital of Angola, and a delegation led by Salah Jama, the deputy prime minister of Somalia, is in attendance.
The Summit started on December 6 and is anticipated to end on Saturday.
The Summit is the first one held since the ACP Group became an international organization, and at least 79 Member States from three continents are attending.
Participants and heads of state discussed problems with security and peace, economic growth, and climate change.
The OACPS’s highest body, the Summit, which happens every three years, gives the Heads of State and Government the opportunity to lay out the organization’s main philosophies.
OACPS is made up of 49 African states, 11 from the Pacific, and 19 from the Caribbean, including Cuba, which has special status.
