Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, was met by Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday for talks in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.

Erdogan and Ibrahim met behind closed doors at the presidential building, the Turkish presidency reported.

The meeting was held in response to the two powerful earthquakes that rattled southern Turkey on February 6, killing more than 35,000 people.

Messages of sympathy and support for Turkey have flooded in from all around the world, and several nations have dispatched rescue crews and humanitarian relief.
