The Turkish Foreign Minister said on Wednesday that Turkey, Russia, Iran, and the Syrian regime will convene a quadrilateral summit in Moscow on May 10.

Mevlut Cavusoglu highlighted the importance of collaboration in battling terrorist organizations in a television interview, emphasizing that Ankara has “no eye on Syrian territories.”

When asked if Turkey will agree to withdraw its troops from northern Syria during the discussions, Cavusoglu stated that such a move might be implemented as a final step once Syria has achieved complete stability.

The defense ministers and intelligence chiefs of Turkey, Russia, and the Syrian regime met in Moscow last December and decided to continue tripartite discussions to ensure stability in Syria and the wider region.

Iran was also invited to participate in the negotiations, with Türkiye previously adding that Ankara would be “pleased if Iran is involved in this process.”

Regarding the ongoing violence in Sudan, Cavusoglu stated that Turkey has evacuated at least 2,061 people, including 1,763 Turkish nationals, from the country over the course of several weeks of fighting between the army and a paramilitary group.

He claimed a military plane would be used to evacuate Turkish medical workers from Sudan, and that Turkey’s embassy in Khartoum would be temporarily relocated to Port Sudan, from which evacuations would take place.

When asked about the unveiling of the “Nemesis Monument” in Yerevan, Armenia, Cavusoglu stated that Turkey had closed its airspace to flights from Armenia to other countries.

“If they continue to insist on the monument,” he said, “further steps will be taken.”

The monument pays tribute to those who carried out killings against Ottoman and Azerbaijani leaders in the early 1920s.
