    Arsenal wins at Newcastle to maintain their lead in the English Premier League.

    Arsenal beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Sunday in the English Premier League to close the gap on leaders Manchester City.

    Martin Odegaard, a Norwegian midfielder for the Gunners, opened the scoring in the 14th minute at Newcastle’s St. James’ Park. He defeated Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope with a low shot from outside the box.

    Arsenal of London had to wait nearly an hour for their second goal after Newcastle defender Fabian Schar scored an own goal in the 71st minute.

    Arsenal moved up to second place with 81 points after 35 games.

    Manchester City leads the league with 82 points, although they have a game in hand.

    Newcastle United is third in the table with 65 points.

    On Sunday, Manchester City will travel to Everton, while Arsenal will play in London against Brighton & Hove Albion.
