During a discussion of current energy market events at the Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday, Qatar’s energy minister stated, “The only thing that will save humanity and Europe this year is a warm winter.”
“If the economy starts churning back up in 2024, and you just have a regular winter, I think the worst is yet to come,” Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi remarked at the Doha forum.
He emphasised that renewable energy sources are simply used to generate power and do not solve issues, and that countries require a suitable mix of energy products.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February, energy costs, particularly natural gas, have risen dramatically.
