Barcelona’s senior German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan equalized in the 92nd minute, but Girona’s Uruguayan veteran attacker Cristhian Stuani answered three minutes later.
Girona took over first place in La Liga with 41 points, while Real Madrid gained only one point to 39 after a 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
Barcelona suffered a setback in their title defense, finishing fourth with 34 points.
On Monday, Rayo Vallecano will play Celta de Vigo.
