Egypt rescued a 2-2 draw against Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday with a stoppage-time penalty from Mohammed Salah.

Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed scored in the second minute, but Mozambique equalized in the 55th minute through Witi at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny.

About three minutes later, Mozambique seized the lead with a close-range finish from Clesio Bauque.

Salah converted a penalty in the 97th minute, resulting in a 2-2 draw in Group B.

Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria drew 1-1 in Group A on Sunday at the Ebimpe Olympic Stadium.

The 34th Africa Cup of Nations will end on February 11 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Due to terrible weather conditions in the West African nation, Africa’s football organization had earlier postponed the tournament until 2024.

The Round of 16 will begin on January 27, with the quarterfinal and semifinal phases beginning February 2 and 7, respectively.

Egypt is the tournament’s most successful country, having won seven titles, the last in 2010.

Ivory Coast has been crowned champion twice, in 1992 and 2015.
