Somali Magazine – Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, paid visits to three Turkish companies that supply Somalia with military equipment on Saturday.

Nur, who is on a working visit, also visited Mechanical and Chemical Industry Inc (MKE). Nur and the Special Forces Command (ÖKK).

He concluded his visit with a tour of the Military Electronic Industries (ASELSAN) facilities, which specialize in the research, development, and manufacture of modern military goods for air, land, and maritime forces.

The Mechanical and Chemical Industry manufactures Turkish military equipment.

The visit comes two days after Somalia and Turkey announced the signing of a “Defence and Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement” to strengthen the two countries’ current defence cooperation.

Turkey supports Somalia’s efforts to achieve stability as well as economic and national development.

It has trained Somali elite forces throughout the years in an effort to resist the insurgency of the extremist group Al-Shabab, which has posed a threat to the federal government since 2006.
