Mogadishu (HOL). Somalia’s Cabinet of Ministers authorized an oil and gas production agreement on Wednesday.
The arrangement was inked earlier this month between the Somali and Turkish governments. Somalia’s Minister of Petroleum and Minerals, Abdirisaaq Omar Mohamed, presented the deal to the Cabinet, underlining its potential to unlock the country’s natural wealth and drive economic growth.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, a crucial condition of the ratified deal is Turkish support for oil production, exploration, and exploitation operations in Somalia.
The session also saw the approval of critical revisions to the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Bill, as well as the Regulation of Public Registration and National Identity.
