    Mogadishu hosts the inaugural workshop for Somalia’s National ID System.

    Mogadishu, Somali Magazine. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, presided over today’s consultation workshop for the National Identification and Registration Authority. The event, held in the capital city, symbolizes the start of a collaborative endeavor to develop Somalia’s comprehensive national ID system.

    The event brought together senior representatives from the Federal Member States and the Benadir Regional Administration. These representatives will play an important part in the consultation process by providing insights and feedback on the suggested ID proposals. The initiative’s goal is to develop a uniform and secure identity system that will serve as the foundation for governance, security, and social services.

    In his introductory remarks, Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh underlined the role of the national ID system in strengthening governmental processes and the lives of Somali inhabitants.”The National Identification and Registration Plans are crucial because they give an identity to our citizens, and that identity enables the government to serve them better,” he said.

    The consultation workshop is expected to cover a variety of issues with the ID system. The workshop’s conclusions are widely awaited, as they will shape Somalia’s future identity management landscape.

    Throughout the consultation process, the National Identification and Registration Authority emphasized transparency and inclusivity.

    As Somalia rebuilds and strengthens its institutions, the creation of a national ID system is viewed as a critical step in the country’s advancement. The effective implementation of this system will be a watershed moment, symbolizing Somalia’s perseverance and commitment to progress.
