MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Somali Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, has approved new laws for the Office of the Auditor General. This permission occurred during the weekly Council of Ministers meeting, which also discussed important national security and education programmes. The Ministry of Defence informed the Prime Minister about the anticipated withdrawal of ATMIS forces and the ensuing transition plan for the Somali National Army to take full responsibility for public security by December 2024.
The Council praised the Somali National Army’s effective operations against Khawarij insurgent organisations, highlighting recent wins in Jubbaland and Galmudug districts.
In the field of education, the Ministry of Education, Heritage, and Higher Education published a report on the preparations for the National High School Examination for the fourth grade in the academic year 2023-2024. This year, more than 37,000 students will take the examinations, which commemorate a decade of consistent administration across the country.
