    Uganda to Introduce Three New Flight Routes to Boost National Revenue

    On Wednesday, Uganda Airlines announced its plans to introduce new services to Abuja, Lusaka, and Harare. This strategic move aims to boost revenue, enhance fleet utilization, and pave the way for further market expansion, aligning with the airline’s broader goal of network and operational efficiency.

    The new service to Abuja, Nigeria, will commence on September 12, 2024, with flights scheduled twice a week. Subsequently, routes to Lusaka, Zambia, and Harare, Zimbabwe, will launch two weeks later. These routes will operate four times a week in a triangular pattern: Entebbe-Lusaka-Harare and Entebbe-Harare-Lusaka, returning to Entebbe. This setup is designed to maximize aircraft utilization and streamline regional operations.

    Currently, the airline operates flights to 13 key cities, providing crucial links for business, tourism, and regional integration. However, with these additions, Uganda Airlines will expand its total number of destinations from 13 to 16. This expansion is expected to enhance operational efficiency by providing crucial links for business, tourism, and regional integration.

    CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki highlighted the strategic importance of these new routes, noting that they mark the culmination of the airline’s three-year strategic plan and pave the way for the next phase of its 10-year rolling plan.

    “Launching these routes marks the conclusion of our three-year strategic plan, paving the way for the next phase of our 10-year rolling plan,” she stated.

    This development marks a milestone in Uganda Airlines’ growth trajectory and underscores its commitment to becoming a key player in the African aviation market.

    The new services are anticipated to not only improve connectivity for passengers but also stimulate trade and tourism between Uganda and the new destinations. By strategically positioning itself in these markets, Uganda Airlines aims to capture a larger share of the regional air travel market and reinforce its presence in Africa.
