An 11-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother were stabbed in a shocking incident in Leicester Square, central London, on Monday. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack and is currently in custody.
Heroic Intervention during the Leicester Stabbing
The attack took place near the busy tourist area of Leicester Square. Abdullah, 29, a security guard at TWG tea shop, described how he intervened when he heard the girl scream. “I heard a scream and saw one guy had a knife,” he said. “I just jumped on that guy, grabbed his hand, and put him down on the floor.” Abdullah, along with other bystanders, restrained the attacker until police arrived.
Police Investigation of the Leicester Stabbing and Victim Status
The Met Police stated that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and do not believe that the victims knew the attacker. The girl was taken to a major trauma center and is being treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Her mother’s injuries were described as “more minor” and also non-life-threatening.

Eyewitnesses reported the shocking scene, with some describing a loud scream followed by the sight of blood and panic in the area. One witness, Jacqueline, recounted how several men tackled the assailant, allowing emergency services to take control of the situation.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 11:36 BST and dispatched several units to the scene. Both victims were treated on-site before being transported to the hospital.
