MOGADISHU, SOMALIA – February 15, 2025 – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reaffirmed his commitment to defeating international terror groups, particularly Al-Shabaab. During a recent address to the nation, President Mohamud emphasized the need for intensified security operations and international collaboration to combat terrorism.
Somali’s Intensified Security Operations
President Mohamud announced plans to ramp up security operations across the country to reclaim territories from Al-Shabaab. He highlighted the importance of a “total war” approach to eradicate the militant group, which has been responsible for numerous attacks in Somalia.

International Support
The President has been actively seeking international support to bolster Somalia’s fight against terrorism. His recent meetings with leaders from Turkey, Kenya, Eritrea, Djibouti, Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia, Algeria, and the United States have focused on collaboration in the war on terror. The United States, in particular, has been a valuable partner in Somalia’s national security and stabilization efforts.
