Qatar Charity (QC) is continuing its mission of humanitarian assistance by distributing essential food baskets to some of the most vulnerable families in Somalia and Chad. As part of its annual “Giving Lives On” campaign, launched for Ramadan 2025 (1446 AH), the organization has reached over 7,100 families in need, providing critical food supplies to support those struggling with economic hardship and food insecurity.
The Ramadan food basket distribution was officially launched in Somalia by Qatar’s ambassador, Dr. Abdullah bin Salem al-Nuaimi, alongside Somali Minister of Family and Human Rights, Khadija al-Makhzumi. The initiative targeted over 6,200 families facing severe living conditions, offering essential food aid to help them through the holy month of Ramadan.
During the launch event, Dr. al-Nuaimi praised Qatar Charity for its consistent efforts in providing aid to Somali communities. He highlighted the organization’s role in improving living conditions, fostering community development, and ensuring that struggling families receive the support they need. Somali Minister Khadija al-Makhzumi also expressed her gratitude, emphasizing the importance of solidarity during Ramadan. She noted that the initiative not only provides food relief but also reinforces the values of compassion and cooperation between nations.
In Chad, the food distribution effort was carried out with the assistance of 15 volunteers who were former orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity. These volunteers, having outgrown their sponsorship, returned to give back to their communities by helping deliver much-needed food aid. A total of 875 food baskets were distributed, benefiting more than 6,118 people.
Qatar Charity has been a major contributor to humanitarian relief efforts worldwide, particularly in regions facing food crises, displacement, and economic instability. The “Giving Lives On” campaign reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, ensuring that those in need receive essential supplies during Ramadan.
With food insecurity continuing to be a major issue in Somalia and Chad, initiatives like these play a crucial role in alleviating hunger and improving the well-being of struggling families. The support provided by Qatar Charity is expected to make a significant difference in the lives of thousands, offering them much-needed relief during this sacred month.
The campaign highlights the power of humanitarian aid in fostering international cooperation and strengthening the bonds between nations. As Qatar Charity continues its work across multiple countries, its efforts serve as a reminder of the importance of global solidarity in addressing food shortages and supporting those in crisis.
