Following the collapse of the previous government, insurance services were virtually nonexistent in Somalia until the emergence of the first private insurers about a decade ago. Since then, the industry has grown, and in 2023, the government approved a regulatory regime to provide oversight and 2025 March Somalia federal parliaments approved insurance.
