    Somali Magazine - People's Magazine

Fifty issues. As I write those words, I am filled with pride, humility, and a renewed sense of purpose. What began in June 2021 as a single idea — to tell authentic Somali stories from our own perspective — has blossomed into one of the most influential and respected media platforms in the Somali world. Today, Somali Magazine celebrates its 50th issue, and with it, a journey that has exceeded every expectation.

When we published our first issue, we had a mission: to document Somali excellence, not through the lens of conflict or survival, but through triumph, innovation, culture, and community. We believed — and still do — that Somalis everywhere deserved a media platform that uplifts, celebrates, and connects. Since then, we’ve told stories that span continents, generations, and industries. From political leaders and business titans to cultural icons and unsung heroes, Somali Magazine has become a beacon of pride and progress.

But the magazine is just one part of the story.

In the span of four years, Somali Magazine has grown from a print publication to a full-fledged media house — one of the most relevant and trusted in Somalia and beyond. We’ve built a vibrant digital presence, expanded our editorial offerings, and earned the trust of readers in cities from Mogadishu to Minneapolis. Our voice is no longer just local or regional — it’s global.

More than that, we’ve emerged as a powerhouse in events and community engagement.

To our readers: thank you. You are the reason this magazine exists. You’ve made space for these stories in your homes, your hearts, and your histories.

To our contributors: your words, images, and ideas have shaped the narrative of a people reclaiming their greatness.

To our partners, sponsors, and collaborators: your belief in Somali excellence has helped us scale our impact, both on the page and on the ground.

And to my tireless team at Somali Magazine — writers, editors, event staff, designers, producers — this milestone is your masterpiece. You’ve transformed a vision into a reality that now reaches across borders.

Fifty issues later, we are only just getting started. In the years ahead, we’ll expand our coverage, deepen our journalism, grow our event footprint, and continue investing in platforms that uplift Somali voices. We’ll enter new markets, forge new partnerships, and stay grounded in the values that brought us here.

As I look back, I see a magazine. As I look ahead, I see a movement.

Here’s to the next 50 — and to the people who make it all possible.

    With gratitude,

    Ridwan Yusuf
