The sweeping security overhaul coincides with intensive military campaigns in the rugged Bari region, where regional forces continue active operations against entrenched extremist pockets in the Cal Miskaad mountains alongside sustained maritime patrols against coastal piracy and human trafficking. Administration representatives noted that unvetted arms proliferation directly undermines counter-terrorism efforts and provides illicit networks with the means to destabilize peaceful communities. By clamping down on illegal weapons trafficking, local authorities aim to secure internal supply lines and protect vulnerable populations from retaliatory feuds.
