    Chinese Ambassador Strengthens Security Cooperation with Somali Police Force

    H.E. Wang Yu, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, made a significant visit to the headquarters of the Somali Police Force (SPF) on November 20, 2024. The meeting, held with Somali Police Commissioner General Asad Osman Abdullahi, also known as “Diano,” focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in public security between China and Somalia.

     

    Fostering Security Partnerships

    During the visit, Ambassador Wang Yu and Commissioner Diano discussed avenues for strengthening the partnership between their countries in public safety and law enforcement. The dialogue highlighted the shared commitment to addressing security challenges in Somalia and fostering mutual support to ensure stability in the Horn of Africa.

     

    Ambassador Wang emphasized China’s readiness to collaborate on capacity-building initiatives for Somali law enforcement agencies. These efforts include providing technical support, sharing expertise in combating organized crime, and enhancing the operational capabilities of the Somali Police Force.

     

    Commitment to Regional Stability

    The meeting underscored China’s interest in contributing to Somalia’s ongoing efforts to rebuild its security infrastructure amidst challenges posed by terrorism and crime. Ambassador Wang reaffirmed Beijing’s stance on supporting peace and development initiatives across Somalia.

     

    General Diano expressed gratitude for China’s continued support, noting that strengthened cooperation with international partners like China plays a critical role in addressing Somalia’s unique security needs. He further emphasized the importance of such collaborations in promoting a peaceful environment conducive to socio-economic growth.
