Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting stability and development in Somalia, as well as strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation across various domains. This was emphasized during a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Somali State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ali Mohamed Omar.
Strategic Partnership and Security Cooperation
During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s support for Somalia’s efforts to combat terrorism and extremism. The two ministers hailed the recent decision to upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, a move that reflects the deeply-rooted ties between the two nations and paves the way for expanded cooperation in security, trade, and investment.

Regional Peace and Stability
Both sides agreed on the importance of intensified coordination to address security challenges and support African efforts to maintain regional peace and stability. The talks also touched on the African Union’s AUSSOM mission in Somalia, with both ministers discussing its formation in line with Somalia’s vision for security and stability.
