    – The National Consultative Council (NCC) meeting, which will be attended by the presidents of the five regional state governments and the federal government, is scheduled to begin on Monday in Mogadishu.

On Monday morning, Presidents of the Galmudug, Mohamed Abdi Kariye Qoor-Qoor, the Hirshabelle, Ahmed Madobe, the Southwest, Abdiaziz Laftagaren, and Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, all came in the city.

The ongoing campaign against al Shabab, drought assistance, and resource allocation between the various levels of government will all be topics of discussion between federal member state and federal government authorities.

Following violence in Baidoa between Southwest state forces and militia supporting the rival candidate, the leaders are also anticipated to talk about President Abdiaziz Laftagaren’s one-year extension.

All of Somalia’s regional leaders, with the exception of President Deni, have extended their terms by a year.

President Abdiaziz Laftagaren’s term was extended by the Southwest Parliament three years ago; it ends on December 19, 2023. However, the term extension is opposed by local opposition figures.
