The president of Galmudug state, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoor Qoor) is scheduled to speak to reporters soon, as he reports on the ongoing fighting in the town of Guri’el in Galgadud region.
Qoor Qoor will also announce Galmudug’s position on Guriel, which has been the scene of fighting for four days between government forces and Ahlu Sunna.
“The President of Galmudug, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Kariye, will soon discuss the situation in Guriel district and the position of Galmudug,” a statement from the Galmudug state presidency said.
Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoor Qoor) has already taken the decision to fight Ahlu Sunna forces, which is still ongoing in central Guri’el.
Meanwhile, reports from the town say that the situation is calm today, but the two sides are still facing each other.
Ahlu Sunna occupies the area of the University, where it has strongholds, while government forces are in the north of the city.
No ceasefire has been reached so far and the two sides are now mobilizing for the fight.
The fighting in Guri’el has resulted in deaths, injuries, destruction and displacement, and families living there are suffering on the outskirts of the town.
