Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Cairo on Saturday to address Israel’s attacks on Gaza, humanitarian help to Palestinians, and evacuations from the besieged Gaza Strip.
According to diplomatic sources, the two also discussed the situation in war-torn Ukraine and the Caucasus province of Karabakh.
Despite warnings that this would result in a humanitarian calamity, the Israeli army permitted over 1 million Gazans 24 hours to flee the strip’s north for its south on Friday.
Later, Fidan is scheduled to meet with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Fidan is in Egypt for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Shoukry.
His talks with Egyptian officials are anticipated to cover all elements of bilateral relations, as well as current regional developments and global challenges.
