    Oman and Somalia Forge Partnership to Boost Livestock Trade and Cooperation

    Oman and Somalia have taken a step forward in expanding their bilateral relations with a focus on agriculture and livestock. Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, hosted Somalia’s Minister of Livestock, Forestry, and Range, Hassan Hussein Mohamed, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation. The meeting included discussions on improving food security, food safety, and trade within the livestock sector.

    Key Areas of Focus during the Oman and Somalia Meeting

    The discussions covered several areas, including sharing expertise, increasing trade, and enhancing investments in agriculture. The primary goal of this partnership is to increase both countries’ capabilities in livestock production and trade, essential for bolstering food security and economic growth.

    Memorandum of Understanding between Oman and Somalia

    The visit concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), focusing on expanding livestock import and export channels between the two countries. The agreement aims to simplify processes for trade in livestock and establish a more efficient partnership framework.

    Future Outlook

    This MoU is expected to foster stronger ties between the two nations, paving the way for increased agricultural productivity and trade. It highlights Oman’s commitment to agricultural development and collaboration with regional partners.
