Burundi is one of the countries sending troops to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), which is now analyzing and assessing its performance in the region.

On April 24, 2023, the African Union Commission, ATMIS Mission Headquarters, and other Troop Contributing Countries, including Djibouti, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Somalia, as well as officials from international partners, convened in Kampala, Uganda.

The meeting’s goal is to examine the Somali Security Forces’ readiness to take over security responsibilities from African Union soldiers, including force generation and logistical assistance.
