President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Highlight Somalia’s Diplomatic Gains, Economic Goals, and Strengthening Ties with Turkey at Key International Gathering
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in the Turkish city of Antalya on Thursday night to take part in the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF). The forum officially began on Friday and will continue until April 13. This year’s theme is “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World.”
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum is an important international event that brings together leaders from different countries, diplomats, scholars, and experts to talk about global and regional problems. The main goal is to focus on how diplomacy can be used to solve conflicts and bring countries together. It is hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and has been held every year since 2021.
President Mohamud is attending this year’s forum as a special guest. According to his spokesperson, Abdirahman Adam Ali, the Somali president will deliver a keynote speech at the conference. During his speech, he is expected to talk about how Somalia is making progress in diplomacy and building stronger ties with the world. He will also talk about the country’s economic goals and the steps Somalia is taking to become more active in the international community, especially in its relationship with Turkey.
The president’s spokesperson said that one of the key messages will be how Somalia is moving forward after years of conflict and how the government is working hard to build a stable and peaceful country. He is also expected to discuss Somalia’s foreign policy and how it plans to improve cooperation with other nations.
While in Antalya, President Mohamud will also hold meetings with other world leaders on the sidelines of the forum. These meetings will give him the chance to discuss issues such as regional security, economic partnerships, and support for Somalia’s development. Strengthening Somalia’s partnership with Turkey will be a major topic, especially in areas like security, trade, and infrastructure development.
Turkey has played a big role in supporting Somalia over the past decade. The two countries have worked together in many areas, including building roads, improving healthcare and education, and strengthening the Somali military. President Mohamud’s visit is seen as an opportunity to take that cooperation to an even higher level.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum has quickly become a major event where global leaders gather to share ideas and seek solutions for the world’s problems. This year’s forum has attracted many important figures, such as Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, among others.
President Mohamud’s participation in this high-level forum shows Somalia’s growing role on the world stage. It also shows that Somalia is committed to using diplomacy to build strong international relationships and to work with other countries to solve shared challenges.
As the forum continues over the weekend, more discussions and meetings are expected to take place. These include sessions on global peace efforts, economic cooperation, climate change, and regional conflicts. For Somalia, this event offers a valuable platform to present its story to the world – a story of resilience, rebuilding, and hope for a better future.
By taking part in this major diplomatic event, President Mohamud is showing that Somalia is ready to engage with the world and contribute to global peace and cooperation.
