Somali Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud met with the Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, Nicolas De Reviere whilst in Washington DC.

The two officials discussed the importance of holding the elections on time and handing over responsibility for security to the Somali National Army through the full implementation of the Federal Government’s transition plan.

France’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has called on Somali leaders to complete the next election process, which needs to be transparent.

Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud thanked the Ambassador for his support to the Somali people and state building in Somalia.

With constant delays to the election, there are growing calls from the international community for Somali leaders to complete the elections in Somalia as soon as possible this year.
