    The Director General of the Transport Ministry has important talks with Chinese diplomats.

    Mogadishu, Somalia Bashir Maalin Ali, Director General of the Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation, held a high-level discussion with Mr. Chen Wendi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Somalia.

    The summit, held in Mogadishu, focused on strengthening collaboration and providing ongoing support in the essential areas of transportation, roads, and civil aviation. Both sides pledged to continue and improve training programs, as well as advance the abilities and expertise of their respective staff members.

    Highlighting the benefits of this collaboration, Director Bashir expressed appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for supporting the training of 23 Somali Ministry personnel. The workshop, held on October 10, 2023, included key topics of transportation, technology, and road construction. This effort is one of several regular training programs offered to the Somali Civil Aviation Authority with the goal of raising the country’s civil aviation standards.

    The Directors of the Ministry’s Departments of Administration and Finance and Personnel and Training also attended the meeting, demonstrating the significance of the talks and the collaborative attitude between the two nations.

    This conversation represents a step forward in the improvement of Sino-Somali ties, with both countries aiming to maintain assistance and development in the transport sector, which is critical to Somalia’s continuous growth and modernization efforts.
