The Federal Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia have concluded five days of consultative meetings, workshop, and durable solutions training in Dhuusamareeb on the preparation of the implementation plan for the National Durable Solutions Strategy (NDSS) of Galmudug State of Somalia.
The workshop was attended by the Minister of Planning of Galmudug State Hon. Abdinasir Elmi, the Director-General of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Omar Hassan, and the Director-General of Ministry of Planning, Mr. Abdullahi Omer Aden.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Planning stated that a lot of crucial work has gone into the preparation of the Galmudug Durable Solutions Strategy Implementation Plan and that it should provide a lasting solution to the persons affected by displacement. Mr. Abdullahi Omar Aden also stated that this important workshop was the basis for creating a plan that will change the lives of displaced refugees, returnees, and IDPs for the better.
The Director of the Durable Solutions Unit of the Federal Ministry of Planning, Mrs. Zahra Abdi Mohamed pointed out that once the Galmudug State Implementation Plan is finalized, it will be aligning with development projects for Galmudug State aimed at long-term solutions for displacement affected communities. The aim is to develop implementation plans with priorities of each member state to guide the effective implementation of the National Durable Solutions Strategy and to facilitate its operationalization. The plans will enhance coordination capacity for the area-based solutions interventions among the durable solution actors.
Finally, the IGAD Social Development Division, through the world bank funded (DRDIP) with the leadership of the Durable Solutions office of MoPIED facilitated the coordination of the development of the State level Implementation Plans of the National Durable Solutions Strategy 2020 – 2024.
