Somali Magazine -The Russian-Ukrainian conflict can be resolved diplomatically, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has extended an invitation to both leaders to meet in his country.
I said that diplomacy and discussions would continue to play a role in helping to end the war.
Erdogan said on Thursday after returning from a one-day working trip to Ukraine: “Just as I reminded (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy during my Sochi visit, I reminded (Russian President Vladimir) Putin that we might host the meeting between them.
Erdogan, Zelenskyy, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met in the Ukrainian city of Lviv to talk about ways to diplomatically settle the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and to sustain a system that was recently set up for the shipment of Ukrainian grain to international markets.
Erdogan claimed that Turkey, Ukraine, and the UN have discussed possible actions for grain shipments from Ukraine and he urged the international community to take responsibility for reviving the diplomatic process.
On July 22, a deal was made in Istanbul by Turkey, the UN, Russia, and Ukraine to reopen three Ukrainian Black Sea ports for the sale of Ukrainian grain that had become trapped due to the war, which is now in its sixth month.
Erdogan claimed that since the war began, he has met separately with Zelenskyy and Putin and added that Turkey will raise this matter at the UN General Assembly in September.
“There are some extremely important messages to be delivered. The statements we and other nations will deliver there are crucial, “added said.
Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant
During the trilateral meeting in Lviv, Erdogan raised his concern about the ongoing conflict around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and said: “We do not want to experience a new Chernobyl.”
He told reporters that Zaporizhzhia issue is not an “ordinary issue,” noting that Ukraine has both its own technical staff and soldiers in Zaporizhzhia.
Erdogan also said Zelenskyy demanded the removal of Russian mines from the area.
“We will discuss this issue with Putin, and we will especially ask him for this so that Russia should do its part in this regard as an important step for world peace,” he added.
“Türkiye has no eyes on Syrian land,”
Erdogan stated that the major issue facing Ankara is the struggle against terrorism in northern Syria and gave the impression that Turkey is prepared to launch an offensive against terrorist organisations.
He emphasised that the United States still aids terrorism in Syria.
“The main sources of support for terrorism in Syria are the US and the coalition forces. They still carry out the horrible act. They continued to do it without getting bored, and they continued to feed Iraq as well. To who? returning to terrorist groups Sadly, America is to blame for the current upheaval in Iraq “declared the president.
Erdogan emphasised that Ankara is not interested in Syria and that Turkey values Syria’s territorial integrity.
“Because the Syrian people are our brothers, we do not have eyes on their territory. There is no such issue for us. We value the integrity of their area. This must be known to the regime “he observed
Erdogan stated that Ankara accepts responsibility for resolving the Syrian issue for peace in the area and for defending Turkey from threats, adding: “For once, we must understand and accept this. Political communication or diplomacy between nations is unbreakable. There should always be conversations of this nature.”
“We must negotiate additional moves with Syria. I hope that by taking these actions, we will stop numerous games that our neighbours and the rest of the region in the Islamic world play with one another.
He added that every action Turkey takes in Syria is discussed with Russia.
“The Egyptians are our brothers.”
Erdogan stated that Turkey continues to have ministerial-level meetings with Cairo regarding relations with Egypt.
“Given that the Egyptian people are our brothers, we aim to take this action at the highest level and in the finest manner possible. There is no way we could ever be upset by the Egyptian people “said he.
Since Egypt’s 2013 military coup, which toppled elected President Mohammed Morsi, diplomatic contacts between Turkey and Egypt are maintained at the level of charges d’affaires on both sides.
Abdulhamid Han’s drilling vessel
Erdogan said the following about Turkey’s fourth drillship, Abdulhamid Han: “There are currently very few ships like this drillship in existence. It can dig down 12,000 metres (39,370 feet), the maximum depth.”
Abdulhamid Han began drilling at the Mediterranean’s Yorukler-1 well on July 17.
In the Black Sea, the nation found 540 billion cubic metres (19 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas. Fatih, Yavuz, and Kanuni, three further Turkish ships, continue their drilling operations in the Black Sea.
Erdogan claimed that during the visit of Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Turkey and Malaysia discussed possible collaboration in this area.
He stated that a coordinated action is anticipated from Malaysia’s Petronas and Turkey’s Turkish Petroleum Corporation.
Erdogan responded, “a different place,” when asked if Malaysia and Turkey will conduct collaborative exploration activities in the Mediterranean or the Black Sea.
