Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed his condolences to Pakistan on Saturday for the flood calamity caused by heavy monsoon rains across the country.
In a phone chat with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Erdogan stressed his willingness to provide “all types of support to the brotherly people of Pakistan in this terrible time, as always,” according to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.
He also wished Allah’s mercy on those who died and a swift recovery for those who were injured.
Pakistan almost hit the terrible milestone of 1,000 rain-related deaths on Saturday, which have been sparked by torrential rains and swirling floods across the country since mid-June.
Another 45 people were killed and dozens went missing in the past 24 hours as monsoon downpours and roaring floodwaters continued to pound the country, according to officials and local media.
