In two weeks, all schools in Uganda would be closed due to the Ebola virus’s fatalities of eight students.
According to Janet Museveni, the first lady and minister of education, there have been 23 verified cases among students.
The outbreak’s epicentre, the central Kassanda and Mubende areas, are now under an extended lockdown.
Since September, there have been over 150 confirmed and suspected cases, 64 fatalities, according to the World Health Organization.
The virus strain that is now afflicting Uganda and for which there is no vaccination is the Sudan strain.
