According to the executive director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), more than 500 children have been killed in Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale war against its neighbor.

“Another heartbreaking turning point in the lives of Ukraine’s children and families. At least 501 children have been slain since the war’s escalation in February 2022,” Catherine Russell claimed on Twitter.

She claims that the true figure is “likely substantially higher” than the UNICEF figures.

Russell also stated that around 1,000 children had been hurt, leaving them with obvious and invisible wounds and scars that could last a lifetime.

“Behind each number is a family torn apart and forever changed. “It’s heartbreaking,” she remarked.

“In the end, children and families require peace. It can’t come fast enough.”
