Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Angel Di Maria returned to Benfica on Wednesday, according to the Portuguese club.

“Angel Di Maria has signed a contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica and is a new addition to Roger Schmidt’s squad.” “The 35-year-old Argentine forward returns to Estadio da Luz and will don the Sacred Mantle once more,” Benfica said in a statement.

Di Maria played at Benfica from 2007 until 2010, winning the Portuguese league title.

He played for Juventus last season but departed the Italian club in June.

He previously spent seven years in France with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where he won five domestic titles.

Di Maria formerly played for Real Madrid in Spain and Manchester United in England.

Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League in 2014.

The Argentine winger appeared in 40 matches and scored eight goals for Juventus during the 2022-23 season.

Di Maria also played for Argentina, who won the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. He scored against France in the final.
