Somali army kills several senior al-Shabab leaders in joint military operations, delivering a critical blow to the militant group’s command and intelligence networks. According to official announcements released by the National Intelligence and Security Agency, a targeted raid conducted on August 23 successfully eliminated Abdullahi Hashi Labajir, widely known as Ikhlaas, who served as the overall head of intelligence for the insurgency. The precision operation took place in the Jilib district located within the Middle Juba region, an area long regarded as a primary stronghold for the extremist network.
Government officials emphasized that Ikhlaas had held his senior leadership position since 2013, making him one of the longest-serving figures within the militant group’s upper echelon.
