“Al Nassr Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the world’s top scorer in 2023 after reaching his 53rd goal against Ittihad today,” the team announced in a post on X. “He surpassed Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane, who scored 52 goals each.”
In the 5-2 victory, the 38-year-old Portuguese converted two penalties kicks.
Kane of Bayern Munich and Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain both have 52 goals, while Erling Haaland of Manchester City has 50.
However, Norwegian attacker Haaland is expected to make two Premier League outings before the end of the season, with Manchester City due to face Everton on Wednesday and Sheffield United on December 30.
