Declan Rice, a midfielder for West Ham United, has joined Arsenal, the club announced on Saturday.

The 24-year-old, who signed a contract extension until 2028, will wear the number 41 shirt, according to an English Premier League announcement.

“We’re overjoyed that Declan is joining us. “He is a player of tremendous ability who has been performing at a high level in the Premier League and for England for a number of seasons now,” stated Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta. “Declan brings undeniable quality to the club, and he is an exceptional talent with great potential here.”

The transfer, which is still subject to regulatory approval, is said to be a record deal at £100 million ($130.9 million) plus £5 million ($6.5 million) in add-ons.

If this fee becomes official, Rice will become the most expensive English player in the game’s history.

Declan Rice scored 15 goals and assisted 13 times in 245 games for West Ham.

With them, he won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023.
