    Drought relief from Qatar has arrived in Somalia.

    Around 45 tons of food baskets have arrived at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport in response to Somalia’s drought. The aid was supplied in collaboration with the Amiri Air Force by the Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Charity.

    HE Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Duran Ahmed Farah, a number of Somali government officials, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Somalia Hassan bin Hamza Hashem, a delegation from Qatar Fund for Development, and representatives from Qatar Charity Office were among those who helped deliver aid.

    In a speech during the handover ceremony, HE the Somali Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation expressed his country’s gratitude to the government and people of Qatar for their continued support, noting that the State of Qatar has been assisting the Somali people for more than two decades and stands by them in all circumstances.
    His Excellency emphasized that the Somali people would never forget what the State of Qatar has done for them, noting that the help came at a critical moment for the country’s humanitarian situation.
    His Excellency also expressed gratitude to the Qatari Embassy in Somalia for its assistance in enabling relief delivery.

    HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Somalia said that the response of the State of Qatar, represented by Qatar Fund for Development, to the call of duty and humanity to provide this urgent relief aid to our brothers in Somalia affected by the drought crisis is an extension of the Qatari support provided to the Somali people in various fields, as well as the relief aid and great humanitarian work carried out by the offices of Qatar Charity and Qatar Fund for Development.
    His Excellency reaffirmed Qatar’s leadership and people’s support for the brotherly Somali people in these trying times, wishing for the conflict to end as soon as possible.
