The East Africa Somali Awards (EASA 2027) has rapidly cemented its status as the region’s premier platform for recognizing outstanding achievement, visionary leadership, and transformative community impact. Organized by Somali Magazine, an ISO 9001:2015 certified media and events platform with eight years of publishing excellence, the awards celebrate the leaders, entrepreneurs, and organizations driving progress across Somalia, Kenya, and the broader East African ecosystem.

With preparations underway for its 3rd Edition, EASA continues its upward trajectory, evolving from a local celebratory gathering into a high-level regional catalyst for economic collaboration, brand visibility, and policy engagement.

The Journey So Far: Two Editions of Remarkable Growth

Since its inception, EASA has demonstrated exponential growth in both physical turnout and digital footprint, reflecting the growing appetite for a credible, professionally delivered regional awards framework.

1st Edition (2025): Laying the Foundation

Held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi, the inaugural East Africa Somali Awards brought together over 350 business owners, civic figures, and professionals. Garnering a digital reach exceeding 7 million impressions across social media platforms, the 1st Edition established the core mission of EASA: spotlighting Somali excellence, encouraging entrepreneurship, and creating a cross-border networking hub.

2nd Edition (April 2026): A Regional Milestone

The 2nd Edition took place on 5 April 2026 at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi, elevating the EASA experience to an unprecedented scale. The high-profile gala attracted 500+ distinguished guests and reached an audience of over 15 million digitally.

Officiated by H.E. Aden Bare Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Health of the Republic of Kenya, the event welcomed a prestigious delegation of dignitaries, including:

  • H.E. Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, Ambassador of Somalia to Kenya

  • Hon. Nathif Jama Adam, Governor of Garissa County

  • Hon. Mohammed Adow, Member of Parliament for Wajir South

The 2nd Edition celebrated 33 pioneering organizations and leaders across multiple key sectors, proving that Somali-led enterprises and professionals are at the forefront of East Africa’s socio-economic transformation.

3rd Edition (17 January 2027): What to Expect

The upcoming 3rd Edition of the East Africa Somali Awards is set to take place on 17th January 2027 at the Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi Airport, running from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Moving into its third year, EASA’s core ambition is expanding from regional recognition toward greater regional influence and institutional partnership. The 2027 edition will gather senior executives, policymakers, international diplomats, corporate investors, and emerging leaders under one roof.

“It is with great pride that I welcome you to the 3rd Edition of the East Africa Somali Awards… EASA has grown with us from 350+ guests and 7M+ digital reach in 2025 to 500+ guests and 15M+ in 2026. Our move to Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi Airport marks the next chapter in that journey.”

By bringing together decision-makers from across Kenya, Somalia, and the wider East African Community (EAC), the 3rd Edition of EASA promises to be the most influential celebration of talent, enterprise, and leadership the region has seen yet.
