According to a statement filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, Elon Musk, the founder of electric carmaker Tesla and space exploration company SpaceX, has purchased a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter.
Following the acquisition, Twitter’s stock soared by around 26% in the stock market.
