As Somalia sends two students to international Quran competition in Saudi Arabia, federal religious affairs authorities held an official send-off ceremony in Mogadishu to honor the young scholars selected to represent the nation on the global stage. Organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the farewell event recognized the exceptional dedication of Mohamed Nur Mohamed Ibrahim and Muna Abdirahman Mohamed Sabriye. Both students earned their national delegation berths after securing top honors in their respective memorization categories during the national Quran competition held during the holy month of Ramadan. Ministry leadership, departmental directors, educators, and family members gathered to celebrate the contestants before their departure for Makkah.
The international Quran competition in Saudi Arabia brings together elite reciters and memorizers from over one hundred countries, offering a prestigious platform for youth to demonstrate mastery in memorization, Tajweed, and Quranic sciences. Mohamed Nur Mohamed Ibrahim will compete in the full memorization division, covering all thirty parts of the Holy Quran, while Muna Abdirahman Mohamed Sabriye will represent the nation in the fifteen-part memorization category. During his address at the send-off ceremony, the Ministry’s Director General, Dr. Abdinafic Ahmed Abdullahi, urged the two representatives to embody the noble morals and peaceful teachings of the faith, emphasizing that their participation serves as a source of national pride and unity for Somalis worldwide.
