Somali Magazine September 10, 2023-Morocco’s national football squad gave blood on Saturday in the aftermath of Friday’s earthquake, which killed over 1,000 people.

The Moroccan national team’s X social media account posted photos of Moroccan players donating blood.

Amal Duraid, the director of the Regional Centre for Blood Transfusion in Casablanca, had earlier launched an appeal for blood donations to support the earthquake victims.

“I appeal to all citizens across Morocco to go to the nearest centres to donate blood, given that the death toll from the earthquake is on the rise,” Duraid told Anadolu.

According to an Anadolu correspondent, a large number of residents gathered in many locations, including Marrakesh and Rabat, to donate blood.

A massive earthquake that rocked Morocco late Friday killed at least 1,037 people and injured 1,204 more.

The magnitude 7.0 quake killed people in several regions, including Al Haouz and Marrakesh provinces, as well as the cities of Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua, and Taroudant, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.
