Somali Magazine September 13,2023-Yusuf Hussein Jim’ale (Madale), Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, received the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Alberto Vecchi, and was accompanied in the meeting by the Deputy Chairman of Security and Politics of the Banadir Regional Administration and the Commander of the Banadir Police.
The conference focused on bilateral collaboration and the acceleration of the Italian government’s investment programmes in building the capital city, notably in infrastructure.
The Mayor and the Ambassador paid a visit to the Italian monument near the Banadir Administration and the Italian House (Casa Italia), which the Italian government had demanded be evicted and returned to them.
According to the Ambassador, the Casa Italia in the centre of the capital is a symbolic place for both Somalia and Italy.
“I am here to thank the Somali Authority System, President HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Government, and especially the Mayor of Mogadishu, for returning this historical and symbolic site to both Italy and Somalia for public use,” Ambassador Vecchi remarked.
