The credentials of Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sheikh Ali (Doodishe), the newly appointed Ambassador of Somalia to Qatar, were received by Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The formal presenting of credentials was a watershed point in the two countries’ bilateral relations. Dr. Doodishe, a well-known figure in Somali politics, previously served as Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security.

The recent selection of Dr. Doodishe as Ambassador to Qatar by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasizes the necessity of maintaining strong diplomatic relations. The Emir’s polite acceptance of the credentials cements Qatar’s commitment to diplomatic partnership with Somalia. Dr. Doodishe’s transfer from Minister of Internal Security to diplomat illustrates the broad knowledge Somalia aims to exploit in the diplomatic arena.

Dr. Doodishe’s diplomatic duties begin on November 23, 2023, when the cabinet ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia wish him farewell. The Cabinet of Ministers was present at the meeting, which recognized his service as Minister of Internal Security. The diplomatic community is looking forward to Ambassador Doodishe’s tenure in strengthening Somalia and Qatar’s interests and collaboration.
